Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I am 22 years old and I have a problem with menstruation. My period lasts for a minimum of 20 days, with a slow discharge of blood over many days. This has been happening for approximately 8 months. Sometimes, I also notice that the blood is clotted, resembling jelly.

Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

You are experiencing a condition called hemorrhagic and need to be treated as it can lead to anemia and other problems. It’s important to get a physical examination, along with blood tests, an ultrasound, and urine tests to find the underlying cause of your condition. The bleeding can be managed with hormone progesterone, but it’s essential to determine the cause first. If there’s a pregnancy-related issue, a minor dilatation and curettage may be necessary.

Thanks
