Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

Whenever I try to insert my finger inside my vagina, I feel a lump around the vaginal wall, and it causes a little pain. However, it is not affecting my daily activities. My period is also 2 days late this month. Should I be concerned?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

1. The lump you're feeling could be a vaginal cyst or a Bartholin cyst, especially if there is pain involved. These types of cysts are relatively common and may require examination and testing to determine the exact cause. Treatment for these cysts is often surgical, so it is important to consult a specialist for a proper diagnosis and treatment plan.

2. Regarding your missed period, if you are sexually active and not using contraception, pregnancy is a possible cause of the delay. I recommend taking a pregnancy test and possibly getting a scan to confirm your pregnancy status.

Thanks
