Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I’m 22 years old. I’ve been feeling concerned because my body is very thin, I’m experiencing a lot of hair fall, and I recently found out that my sperm count is low. Could you please tell me what tests I should do to understand the cause of these problems?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

Based on your symptoms—being very thin, experiencing hair fall, and having a low sperm count—it’s likely that a hormonal imbalance may be involved. I recommend you consult an Endocrinologist, who specializes in hormone-related issues.

The doctor may suggest some important tests, such as:

1. Thyroid function test

2. Testosterone and other male hormone levels

3. FSH, LH, and Prolactin levels

4. Vitamin D, B12, and iron levels

5. Semen analysis (if not already done)

These tests can help identify the root cause and guide treatment. It’s good that you’re taking steps early—proper care can make a big difference.

Thanks
