Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I’m an 18-year-old male, 187 cm tall and 78 kg. Over the past week, I’ve had pain in my right knee. I don’t recall any injury during football, and I haven’t played much recently. The pain is mild but increases after walking for a while, and there's some stiffness. There's no swelling, and my knee looks normal. Could this be a partial ACL tear, or what other injury might it be?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

Based on the symptoms you've described, it’s possible that you’re dealing with something like synovitis, patellofemoral syndrome, or even a small meniscus tear. These conditions can sometimes cause pain and stiffness without significant swelling or a clear traumatic event. However, to get a definitive diagnosis, I recommend seeing an orthopedic surgeon for a thorough examination. They may suggest imaging tests such as an MRI to help determine the exact cause of your symptoms.

Thanks
