Hello Doctor,
What are the ways to maintain normal blood pressure while taking prazosin? I am currently taking prazosin in combination with Prozac, and I frequently experience dizziness and nosebleeds. I am unsure if these symptoms are related to low blood pressure.
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
Many patients with high blood pressure may feel normal and not notice any symptoms. Therefore, it is crucial to take your medicine exactly as directed by your doctor and keep your appointments, even if you feel fine. Although rare, bloody nose and dizziness are potential side effects of Prazosin. These symptoms may diminish as your body adjusts to the medication. Since you are experiencing such symptoms, I recommend booking an appointment with your doctor for reassurance and potential dosage adjustments to find what works best for you. Prazosin will not cure your high blood pressure, but it helps control it. You may need to take blood pressure medication for life. To ensure the effectiveness of this medicine, it may be necessary to manage your weight and make dietary changes, especially by reducing sodium (salt) intake.
Thanks
