Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I took a morning after pill on the 12th of November, three days after I was done with my period, and now I’m bleeding every time I pee. I expect my period on the 4th of December. Before the bleeding, I had really intense cramps similar to my menstrual period. Should I be worried?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

1. The symptoms you're experiencing are actually quite common after taking the morning-after pill. This medication can have a significant impact on your regular menstrual cycle, often causing irregular bleeding, cramping, or spotting.

2. These side effects are generally temporary and should subside after a short period. It's important to be aware of these potential effects and to carefully read the instructions and side effects provided with the medication. However, if the bleeding continues or you have any other concerns, it's a good idea to consult with a healthcare provider to rule out other causes.

Thanks
