Hello Doctor,
Are these symptoms indicative of a common cold or could it be a sign of something more serious? My nose has been congested for three days now, alternating between being stopped up and runny, accompanied by a headache with a lot of pressure. My throat also burns and hurts. What should I do?
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr.Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
Nasal Congestion: Your alternating nasal congestion (stuffy and runny nose) suggests irritation or inflammation in the nasal passages, possibly due to a viral infection or allergies.
Headache and Pressure: The headache accompanied by pressure indicates sinus involvement, which is common with nasal congestion. This pressure can cause discomfort and contribute to the headache.
Throat Irritation: The burning sensation and throat pain may suggest a sore throat, which can be caused by postnasal drip or throat irritation due to the nasal congestion.
Thanks
