Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

Can I ask what is the problem in my body? These past months I've been menstruating at least twice a month. Usually, my menses last about three to four days, and when another week comes, there are menses that are coming out of me again. Sometimes when I get menstrual cramps from working too hard, I can't deal with the pain. I just lay down, and after hours, it is gone.

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

Menstrual pain in the first two days is often due to a normal cycle with egg formation. If the pain is very severe and accompanied by nausea and vomiting, it can be treated with appropriate analgesics, a hot water bottle, and some rest. A lifestyle that includes exercise and a balanced diet can help as well. After the pain subsides, you can resume normal activities. However, if you experience pain throughout the cycle, it is advisable to see a specialist for an examination and minimal tests, including a scan, to identify any underlying causes such as fibroids, endometriosis, or infections. With proper treatment, relief and comfort are always possible. It's essential to listen to your body regarding physical activity, and follow medical advice, as some conditions may require surgery.

Thanks
