Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I've been having chest discomfort for the past 24 hours. After discontinuing Vraylar for another medication, whenever I lie down, my chest feels like it's going to collapse. I can only find relief by sitting or standing up. What could be causing this?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

In your situation, there could be several reasons for your symptoms. It's possible that you're experiencing discomfort related to a gastric ulcer or a hiatal hernia. To confirm the diagnosis, it's advisable to undergo a multislice computed tomography (MSCT) scan of the chest and an esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD). It's important to note that the medication you've stopped taking, Vraylar, is not typically associated with chest pain.

Thanks
