Patient Question

Hello Doctor

I recently developed a chalazion in my eye and am concerned about whether sleeping in an air-conditioned environment might worsen it. Could the cold air from the AC aggravate the chalazion or affect its healing process? Should I adjust the temperature or take any precautions while sleeping to prevent any potential worsening of the condition?

Hello

Thank you for reaching out to Dr.Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

1. Possible Cause: Exposure to papillomavirus may cause the sore, especially in affected areas.

2. Warm Compresses: Apply warm compresses to the eye several times daily to soften blocked oils and promote drainage.

3. Topical Antibiotics: Doctors may prescribe antibiotic ointments or drops to reduce inflammation.

4. Steroid Injections: Recommended for persistent chalazia to reduce inflammation.

5. Oral Antibiotics: Prescribed if infection is present.

6. Surgical Drainage: In severe cases, incision and drainage may be necessary.

7. Recommendation: Consult a primary care physician for accurate diagnosis and treatment.
