Hello Doctor,
I am 59 years old, and my blood pressure ranges from 110 to 160. My HbA1c result on 26th April 2023 was 9.49. I had angioplasty done on 3rd March 2023, but my doctor informed me that there is another 98% blockage in my left artery, and it needs to be treated. The doctor said that the second angioplasty can be done after 6 months. I would like to know if it’s safe to have the second angioplasty after 6 months. Additionally, I’ve been taking medication for the past 4 months after the first angioplasty. Should I continue taking this medication for the next 8 months?
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
Based on your condition, I recommend that you continue with your current medication regimen, follow a heart-healthy diet, and refrain from smoking until the second angioplasty. It is crucial to take your medication as prescribed and maintain regular follow-ups with your healthcare team. The second angioplasty after 6 months, as planned by your doctor, should be safe, but it is important to monitor your health closely and stick to the treatment plan in the meantime. Make sure to discuss any concerns with your doctor during your follow-up appointments.
Thanks
