Hello Doctor,
I've been burping nonstop for the past few hours, and nothing seems to help. I took Tums and my usual heartburn medication, but I'm still burping constantly. It feels like there's a lot of air trapped in my stomach, and I also have some mild discomfort in my chest and upper abdomen. I haven't eaten anything unusual, and I don’t think it's from carbonated drinks. What could be causing this, and what else can I do to stop it?
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
It could be acid reflux or trapped gas. Avoid spicy, fatty, or acidic foods, eat smaller meals, and stay upright after eating. Drink water but avoid carbonated drinks. Try an antacid with simethicone (like Gas-X). If symptoms persist or worsen with pain, nausea, or weight loss, see a doctor to rule out GERD or gastritis.
Thanks
