Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I've been feeling really unwell for the past 8 days. My face looks very pale and gray, and my lips have turned purple. I'm experiencing constant nausea, and I have no appetite. When I do eat, it's very little because I feel so full and bloated. Even though I've had bowel movements, I’ve been stuck in bed for 8 days with absolutely no energy. I’m really scared because I look so sick with the paleness in my face. When I lie on my right side, it feels like something is pushing down on my stomach, and I experience a bit of pain. Passing gas also makes the pain worse. What should I do?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

1. Based on your symptoms, it is important to take your condition seriously, especially since you've been unwell for several days. The pale and gray appearance of your face, along with the purple lips, nausea, and bloating, could indicate an underlying issue that requires further investigation. I recommend scheduling a consultation with a gastroenterologist to properly assess your symptoms and provide a comprehensive diagnosis.

2. In addition to the consultation, it would be wise to undergo an ultrasound of the whole abdomen. This will help identify any potential issues with your digestive system or internal organs that might be contributing to your discomfort and symptoms. It’s essential to get this checked as soon as possible to rule out any serious conditions. Please ensure you stay hydrated and rest while awaiting your appointment. If your symptoms worsen or you develop new ones, don’t hesitate to seek urgent care.

Thanks
