Hello Doctor,
I’m a 34-year-old woman and I’ve been noticing that I get small areas of bleeding under my skin, like little red or purple spots that don’t go away when I press on them. Is that normal or something I should be worried about? Also, I’ve had constant headaches and joint aches for a long time now, and I’m not sure if it’s all connected. Could you help me understand what might be going on?
Hello
Thank you for reaching out Dr. Galen, Please find the below response to your query.
Bleeding under the skin, or bruising, is not normal and may indicate underlying issues like blood vessel problems or clotting disorders. Since you're also experiencing headaches and joint pain, we should consider autoimmune conditions such as lupus or vasculitis, which cause inflammation in the blood vessels. I recommend getting an ANA profile test to check for autoimmune markers, and a rheumatology consultation to explore this further.
Thanks
