Medical Treatment:- Use aftersun cream or spray (such as aloe vera)
- Cool your skin with a cool shower, bath or damp towel - take care not to get too cold for a baby or young child
- Drink plenty of water to cool and avoid dehydration
- Take painkillers, such as paracetamol or ibuprofen
- Avoid wearing tight-fitting clothes over sunburnt skin
- Cover the sunburnt skin from direct sunlight until the skin has healed completely
- Do not scratch or attempt to remove skin peeling
- Avoid use petroleum jelly on sunburnt skin. Do not put ice packs on sunburnt skin
If your baby or young child has a sunburn, or your skin is blistered or swollen, or you feel hot and shivery, see your GP.
