Following things may help in improving your sleeping habits and sleeping environment:
  • Go to bed at about the same time every night and get up every morning at the same time
  • Have a good night sleep
  • Make your sleeping environment that is comfortable, dark, quiet and not too hot or too cold
  • Do not eat big meals
  • Avoid smoking and drinking alcohol or caffeine shortly before going to bed
  • Get regular exercise (but not within four hours of going to bed)
A specialist doctor may suggest taking a course of antidepressant medication (such as clomipramine) if your sleep paralysis is particularly severe.
