Medical Treatment:- No cure for pemphigus vulgaris
- Steroid medication (corticosteroids) plus other immunosuppressant medication are usually prescribed
- It can help to stop the healthy tissue damage by the immune system
- Stop taking medication if symptoms disappear and do not come back when treatment is stopped
Do the following things to help cope with pemphigus vulgaris:
- Do not eat spicy, crispy or acidic foods
- Use a soft toothbrush
- Use anaesthetic mouthwashes, especially before eating or brushing your teeth
- Have dental check-ups regularly
- Take painkillers
- Avoid activities which make skin damage
- Practice good oral hygiene (use antiseptic mouthwash)
You should see a dermatologist if you develop symptoms of an infection, such as your skin becoming very painful, hot and red, or a build-up of pus under the skin
