How to Treat Mumps?
Medical Treatment:
There are no medications to treat the mumps virus
Mumps treatment focuses on relieving symptoms until the immune system of your body fights off the infection
Usually, the infection passes within one or two weeks. During this time, do the following things may help:
Take plenty of bed rest (until your symptoms have passed)
Take over-the-counter painkillers, such as paracetamol or ibuprofen, to relieve any pain
Do not give aspirin to children under the age of 16
Drink plenty of fluids (water is best)
Avoid acidic drinks such as fruit juice as these can irritate your parotid glands
Use a warm or cool compress to reduce any pain in your swollen glands
Eat foods that do not require a lot of chewing (like soup, mashed potatoes, and scrambled eggs)
You should see your GP if your symptoms are suddenly worsening, or do not improve after 7 days
