How to Treat Mouth Ulcers?

Medical Treatment:
  • Mouth ulcers take some time need to heal and there is no quick fix. Avoid some of the things which make mouth ulcer irritating, it should help to reduce pain and reduce it coming back and speeding up the healing process.
Do the following things to treat mouth ulcers yourself:
  • Take cool drinks through a straw
  • Avoid drinking very hot or acidic drinks, like fruit juice
  • Eat softer foods and a healthy, balanced diet
  • Avoid eating very spicy, salty or acidic food, rough, crunchy food (such as toast or crisps)
  • Avoid sodium lauryl sulfate containing toothpaste
  • Regular dental check-ups
  • Use a soft-bristled toothbrush
  • Do not use chewing gum
  • If the mouth ulcer is more painful and red or lasts longer than 3 weeks, see your GP
