How to Treat Leg Cramps?

Medical Treatment:
Do the following things yourself:
While cramp
  • Without doing anything, most cramps go away, but stretching and massaging the muscle can help alleviate the pain
  • When cramping happens, paracetamol or ibuprofen will not help as they take too long to work. Afterward, they can help to relieve muscle tenderness
Preventing cramps
  • Regular calf-stretching exercises may not prevent cramps completely but may contribute to reducing them
  • Visit your GP if leg cramps are disturbing your sleep and you also have numbness or swelling in your legs
  • If you have cramps and they last longer than 10 minutes and there is a chance you might have got a tetanus infection from a wound, need to treat immediately
