How to Treat Kidney Infection?

Medical Treatment:
  • Drink plenty of fluids
  • Take plenty of rest
  • Try not to hover over the toilet seat when you go to the loo
  • If you have kidney failure, get advice from your doctor on how much to drink
  • Treat with antibiotics (A 14 days course of an antibiotic called cefalexin is recommended for pregnant women), and paracetamol if needed
  • If you or your child have symptoms of a UTI that have not improved after a few days you have blood in your pee, or you feel feverish and have pain in your tummy, lower back or genitals that will not go away, you should contact your GP
