Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

My girlfriend has noticed bulging and soreness on her right side under her breasts, extending to her side and back. She has carpal tunnel, hepatitis C, and currently has a phrosis outbreak on her left hand. Could her symptoms be related to her spleen, especially considering it was abnormally swollen a year ago?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

It's essential to properly evaluate a swollen spleen, which typically resides on the left side below the rib cage. Given the swelling on the right side, various causes need consideration, and an ultrasound scan can help confirm the diagnosis. Additionally, understanding more about her hepatitis C status, whether she's in remission or not, is crucial. As for the "sore phrosis," clarification would be helpful. Checking her thyroid profile may provide insights into any underlying causes of carpal tunnel syndrome. Overall, a swollen spleen requires thorough evaluation to determine both its cause and potential consequences.

Thanks
