Patient Question
Hello Doctor,
I am experiencing significant pain in my hand, specifically on the thumb side, and it appears to resemble a whitlow. What remedies can I use to alleviate the discomfort?

Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
To alleviate the discomfort caused by the swollen hand resembling a whitlow, it is recommended to first take an anti-inflammatory drug such as meloxicam, naproxen, or ibuprofen. Additionally, it would be advisable to undergo a blood examination to assess levels of Uric Acid, CRP (C-reactive protein), and ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate).
Thanks
