Hello Doctor,

What is on my scalp? I have acne-like bumps and large painful bumps.

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

As a dermatologist, I can tell you that the symptoms you’re experiencing could be due to several possible conditions. These include folliculitis, which is inflammation of the hair follicles; seborrheic dermatitis, a common skin condition that mainly affects your scalp; or cysts, which are fluid-filled bumps that can occur anywhere on the skin, including the scalp. In some cases, it could also be scalp psoriasis, a condition that causes red, itchy, and scaly patches on the scalp.

However, without a physical examination, it’s difficult to provide an accurate diagnosis. I strongly recommend you make an appointment with a dermatologist who can examine your scalp in person and provide a more accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment.

Thanks
