Patient Question
Hello Doctor,
When is radiation therapy typically given during the treatment process for breast cancer?
Answered by Dr. Amit Ghimire
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
Radiation therapy typically commences three to eight weeks after surgery, unless chemotherapy is part of the treatment plan. In cases where chemotherapy is planned, radiation usually begins three to four weeks after the completion of chemotherapy. Generally, radiation therapy is administered on an outpatient basis at a hospital or another designated treatment facility.
