Patient Question
Hello Doctor,
What should I do if fluid is detected in my pouch of Douglas?
Answered by Dr. Akpobome Biakolo
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
It is possible that the presence of fluid in the pouch of Douglas could be indicative of Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID). In such a case, it is recommended to undergo an endocervical swab microscopy culture and sensitivity test to determine the appropriate antibiotic treatment based on the results. A Full Blood Count test can also be conducted for further evaluation.
Thanks.
