Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I am 25 years old and have been struggling with depression (MDD) for several years. However, I managed to overcome it last year. Additionally, I have noticed a gradual deterioration in my cognitive functions, such as memory, ability to communicate fluently, and reduced understanding of complex issues, over the past few years. Is there hope for me to function as I did before?

Hello, Thank you for reaching out to Dr.Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

Depression can lead to deterioration in multiple cognitive processes, but as depression improves, these cognitive functions can return to baseline levels. There is hope, as all your cognitive functions are reversible if they are secondary to your depression.

Thanks
