Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I have marks left after pimples came and went. If using cream or gel, which is best? Or if I want to go for a chemical peel, which peel and concentration is best? I have oily skin.

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

1. Marks left after pimples are usually a result of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, which is common. If the marks are more noticeable or persistent, a chemical peel might be the best option for faster improvement. However, if the marks are mild, a cream or gel designed for hyperpigmentation could be effective.

2. The exact treatment and concentration of a chemical peel would depend on the severity of your skin condition. For a more accurate recommendation, a proper examination is necessary before prescribing any medications or determining the appropriate peeling concentration. It's always best to consult a healthcare professional to assess your skin's needs.

Thanks
