Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

Is it common to experience a slight sting and a feeling of slight push near my pelvis after completing a 5-day antibiotics course for an STI, which included two injections in the bum and three different tablets? I don’t have any burning pain when urinating, discharge, or severe pain of any kind. The sensations are not frequent but noticeable.

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

Possible Condition: Interstitial Cystitis (IC)

1. IC is a chronic bladder condition causing pelvic pain, pressure, and discomfort.

2. Symptoms can resemble a UTI but are not caused by an infection.

Incomplete Resolution of Symptoms

1. Antibiotics may not have fully addressed underlying IC issues.

2. Discuss symptoms with the healthcare provider for proper diagnosis and treatment.

Treatment Approach for IC

Involves lifestyle changes, physical therapy, and medication.

Considerations for Residual UTI Symptoms

1. Antibiotic resistance, chronic UTIs, or other infections may contribute.

2. Consult with healthcare provider for evaluation and guidance.

Thanks
