Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I've noticed that when I'm really stressed, I start breathing heavily and sometimes get nosebleeds. What can I do to deal with this?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

High stress levels can cause a spike in blood pressure, leading to nosebleeds and sometimes hyperventilation, which can result in nose blockages. It's important to monitor your blood pressure regularly and adopt a diet low in salt to help manage these symptoms. Additionally, finding ways to reduce stress, such as practicing mental relaxation techniques like yoga and meditation, can be beneficial.

Treatment options may include taking Tab Pause 500 mg twice daily for 5 days after breakfast and dinner, along with Tab Levosiz M once at night for 10 days. Using Otrivin nasal drops three times a day for 5 days can also help alleviate nose blockages. It's essential to avoid activities that could exacerbate symptoms, such as violent sneezing, nose clearing, coughing, or straining during bowel movements, to promote healing and prevent further discomfort.

Thanks
