Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I’m 15 years old and I’ve had swollen lymph nodes under my ear and under my chin for about 2 to 3 months. Recently, I’ve started having trouble taking deep breaths. I’m really worried—could this be lymphoma, or might it be something else? What should I do next?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out Dr. Galen, Please find the below response to your query.

1. Given your swollen lymph nodes and breathing difficulties, it’s important to start with an ultrasound of your neck and an upper GI endoscopy to rule out any head and neck malignancies. These tests will help us understand what’s causing the swelling.

2. If these tests come back normal, the next step might be a biopsy of the lymph nodes to check for lymphoma or other conditions. It’s important to get these evaluations soon to ensure proper diagnosis and treatment.

Thanks
