Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I've been dealing with chronic post-nasal drip since 2020, which started after I had the flu. Despite trying allergy tests and changing my diet, the sensation of mucus in the back of my throat persists. Why hasn't my body recognized that the infection is gone after all this time?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

Possible causes for your persistent post-nasal drip include chronic sinusitis, gastroesophageal reflux, allergic rhinitis, non-allergic rhinitis, or nasal polyps. To determine the exact cause and explore treatment options, it's advisable to see an ENT specialist. They may recommend further tests, such as a sinus CT scan or pH monitoring for reflux evaluation, and discuss treatment options such as nasal corticosteroids, antihistamines, nasal saline irrigation, and lifestyle modifications.

Thanks
