Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I had my period on June 13th, and I had unprotected sex on July 5th. I took emergency contraception (iPills) within 20 minutes. Will I get pregnant

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

There is no risk of getting pregnant because at that time of your cycle, there is no ovulation, especially if it is regular every 28 days. It may have already happened, and your ovaries released the egg, possibly by the end of June. The risk of getting pregnant depends on when the unprotected sex occurred in relation to your ovulation time. Hope this answers your query.

Thanks
