Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

What is considered a normal heart rate, and when during pregnancy can the movements of the baby be detected?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

The normal heart rate for a baby typically ranges from 110 to 160 beats per minute. The ability to feel the babys movements can vary. Generally, you may start feeling the babys movements around 16 to 18 weeks of pregnancy. However, for first-time pregnancies, it may take a bit longer, around 18 to 20 weeks gestation, to feel the babys movements. It's important to note that these time frames are approximate and can vary for each individual pregnancy.

Thanks
