Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I have a white bump on the bottom of my penis. It is painless, but when I burst it, a white, hard, acne-like substance comes out, followed by some blood.

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

The white bump you’re describing could be a sebaceous cyst (a noncancerous lump under the skin) or molluscum contagiosum (a viral skin infection), both of which are typically painless. However, these are only potential diagnoses. It’s important not to pick at or burst these bumps, as doing so can lead to infection or scarring. I highly recommend scheduling an examination as soon as possible for a proper diagnosis. A visual inspection and possibly a biopsy will help us determine the exact cause and most effective treatment. Please contact our office for a consultation. If the bump becomes painful, changes in size or color, or if other symptoms develop, seek immediate medical attention.

Thanks
