Hello Doctor,
Could anemia cause the following lab results? Venous oxyhemoglobin 49.2 (Normal range: 94-98%) and Venous deoxyhemoglobin 48.9 (Normal range: 0.0-6.0%), If anemia isn't the cause, what else could explain these abnormal levels?
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
Given the results you've shared, it is important to repeat the test to ensure accuracy. Additionally, I would recommend considering whether the test was an Arterial Blood Gas (ABG) test, as this could explain some differences in readings. My advice is to repeat the test and compare both venous and arterial samples for a more accurate assessment of your oxygen and hemoglobin levels.
Thanks
