Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

My lady has hypothyroidism, and we cannot always afford her medications. How can we address this issue without taking no action? She suffers from hypothyroidism, not hyperthyroidism. She is 5.5 tall, weighs 154 pounds, and is 49 years old. She has allergies to substances such as penicillin, sulfa drugs, walnuts, latex, etc. We desperately need tips, ideas, and information regarding treating the underlying cause and managing this condition.

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

Hypothyroidism often correlates with chronic spontaneous urticaria, necessitating an examination to differentiate between true allergies and symptoms of the underlying issue. Second-generation nonsedating antihistamines are commonly used to treat chronic spontaneous urticaria. I recommend consulting an allergy and immunology specialist.

Thanks
