Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I have a problem for the last three days. I have severe thirst. I drink a lot of water, but the thirst doesn't go away even after drinking. This has never happened before. I cannot eat meals properly because of excessive water intake. Despite drinking so much water, no urine comes out. I am also feeling a slight fever.

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr.Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

Your symptoms of excessive thirst, inability to produce matching urine output despite high water intake, and a slight fever could be indicative of underlying conditions. It’s important to check your blood sugar levels and HbA1c immediately, as these symptoms could be related to an underlying urinary tract infection (UTI), which may lead to increased urination frequency, urgency, and dehydration. Additionally, you should measure your urine output over 24 hours and compare it to your water intake. If the output doesn’t improve in the next 48 hours, it’s crucial to rule out acute kidney dysfunction. Dehydration due to hot weather could also be a simple explanation for your symptoms, which might subside within the next three days. I recommend seeking medical evaluation as soon as possible to address these concerns.

Thanks
