How to Treat Slapped Cheek Syndrome?


Medical Treatment:
Do the following things to ease symptoms:
  • Drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration (babies should continue their normal feeds)
  • Take paracetamol or ibuprofen for high temperature, headaches or joint pain
  • Do not give aspirin to children under the age of 16
  • Take plenty of rest
  • Use a moisturizer on itchy skin
  • You should see your GP if you have slapped cheek syndrome and you have a weakened immune system or you are pregnant or you have a blood disorder such as sickle cell anaemia or thalassaemia
  • You should also need immediate treatment if you have extreme tiredness, shortness of breath, fainting, very pale skin
