The University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) is the primary academic medical center within UMMS, located at the heart of the institution which includes the downtown Baltimore campus with 789 beds and the midtown campus with 177 beds, situated just one mile north. The medical staff consists of nearly 1,200 attending physicians who also serve as faculty members at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, in addition to 900 residents and fellows specializing in various medical fields.
UMMC is home to renowned facilities such as the Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center and The R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, recognized as the highest-volume trauma center in the United States. Established in 1823 alongside the nation's first public medical school, UMMC maintains the tradition where all attending physicians are faculty members at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.

UMMC saved my life twice, once when I was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and then again years later when I had a heart attack. The facility is well taken care of and the staff are some of the best in the medical industry. I can't say enough good things about UMMC, but I trust them with my care now and in the future. Keep up the great work!

The people are very friendly here. The staff is kind with navigating the vast and seemingly endless hallways and corridors. The hospital is clean, and everyone is friendly. If you’re or someone you love is in here for shock trauma, you want to know that they are in good hands. And they really are. I’m impressed with what I saw and although it was an unexpected and unfortunate situation that caused my visit, I can honestly say they did everything they could to make it better.

Our staff and residents, at The Waterfalls of Catonsville Memory Care Home, have had a good experience here at UMMC. The ER, staff, and specialists have taken good care of all of our residents and have shown respect and excellence when working with our facility and staff. We appreciate your care.
