Smithsburg Emergency Medical Services operates around the clock, every day of the year. Nationally Registered Paramedics (NRP) and EMT-Intermediates handle advanced life support (ALS) services, while Basic Life Support (BLS) personnel, trained as EMTs, provide care for less complex cases. The fleet comprises three advanced life support ambulances, two ALS chase vehicles (also known as intercept SUVs), and two support service vehicles. A fully staffed ALS crew is continuously available, and additional support is provided by dedicated and highly trained volunteers.
