I have had to get treatment from the Emergency Room twice. I have to say that the care I have received has been amazing. The staff at the front desk, triage nurses and the care providers in the department all have shown me such compassion. This department was so very busy as I could hear all the bells and hustle and bustle however even though they were busy I felt like I was the only patient they had. I was in yesterday for my 2nd time and was treated with the same amazing care as before. I am so grateful to the people who cared for me and wish I could tell each one in person that they are my HEROES.

I was at Careplex ED in June for a dog bite. I walked to the door and a lady sitting at a desk just inside told me to sit for a moment and to go to register when that chair was empty. Within minutes I was seen by a nurse and then taken to a room followed by a team of people. The first question was, other than aspirin what blood thinners are you on. It took a while to complete all the treatment but everyone was polite and competent at their work. Thank you to everyone who helped me that day. It's not where I wanted to be but the staff was great. doing but

I would have given this review 2 stars if I hadn’t had the experience I did today. I’ve been to this ER four times this year. The first three times I was there, I felt like they didn’t care and just wanted to hurry up and get rid of me. Well, today was my fourth time, and it was a completely different experience. I had the absolute pleasure to be helped by Jan James, PA. She was hands down the best PA, Doctor, or Nurse I’ve ever had in my life. She showed genuine concern, and went above and beyond to make sure I was treated for exactly what I needed to be treated for. She printed out my x-rays, showed them to me, and went over in detail what she was seeing and what her concerns were. NO ONE has ever done that before. I felt so relieved that I finally had someone who was truly going to help me, and not just shoo me out the door. I was literally in tears from relief. I felt heard, I felt cared about, and I felt like I mattered. She is the epitome of what all healthcare workers should be. Thank you Jan James. I will never forget the kindness and compassion you showed me today

After a week of horrible abdominal pain I went to the Sentara Careplex ER. Despite being in pain my experience was a positive one. My nurse Carly was extremely kind, attentive, and empathetic. She maintained a calm and kind demeanor despite rude and ungrateful patients. Jonathan Lee, PA listened when I expressed concerns and provided great care. He prescribed helpful medications and provided a much needed GI referral. I am grateful to everyone who works there!

I just had to go to this ER and I was initially very freaked out. The reviews here don’t look great but this was closest to home and I have had mostly good experiences with Sentara. I was extremely pleasantly surprised by my experience. My ER Dr was incredibly caring and helpful. My nurse Jessica was friendly and did everything with care and compassion. This was an awful medical experience that was made the best it could be by knowledgeable and compassionate providers. I think people should understand that our healthcare workers are still burnt out from the pandemic and recovering from that has been very traumatic for all of us. We all need and deserve compassion for that. Thank you for the great care Sentara Careplex.

Sentara has been absolutely amazing to me and my family the past month. I can't express how grateful I am. Back in February, I had a very unfortunate experience with my son at an urgent care here in Hampton after he broke his wrist. My son's pediatrician directed me to come here instead to have his x-rays done, and my son was treated with such kindness and gentleness by the x-ray tech, Sarah. It was so quick to get in and out, and everyone I interacted with was so gracious. About a month later, I had to come in due to what I believed was hemorrhaging from a miscarriage. Every single person I interacted with in the ER was kind, understanding, sympathetic, and uplifting. I wish I could go back and personally thank every person I spoke with, because they were all wonderful. Everyone had a very calm demeanor and kept me from completely freaking out from the amount of blood I was losing. I ended up having emergency surgery that evening, and everyone in the OR and post-op was equally kind and professional. I'm grateful I came here to be taken care of, because I genuinely felt cared for.
