Overview

The Queensland Rural and Remote Clinical Network plays a crucial role in influencing healthcare across vast landscapes, from the Torres Strait to Tully. In alignment with The Queensland Health Clinical Networks Policy, the network serves as a dynamic hub for clinicians and stakeholders. They actively engages in planning, priority setting, and steering the effective and safe delivery of healthcare services in rural and remote regions. The mission of the network includes defining clinical standards for rural practice, adapting guidelines for rural contexts, ensuring appropriate clinical service delivery, establishing performance measures, supporting clinician development, driving service innovation, enhancing outreach services, fostering community responsiveness, involving patients in their care, forging private-public partnerships, and addressing demographic changes influenced by mining and related industries.

Active involvement from clinicians delivering services to rural communities is not just welcomed; They encourage healthcare professionals to share invaluable insights, contributing to the shaping of initiatives that address the unique challenges and opportunities present in rural and remote healthcare. At the helm of their strategic and operational endeavors is a dedicated steering committee. The multidisciplinary team, consisting of Queensland Health clinicians actively serving in rural and remote communities, along with representatives from general practice and consumer organizations, oversees and drives the decisions made by network members. Together, they are committed to advancing healthcare in rural and remote Queensland, ensuring that communities receive the highest standards of care tailored to their unique needs.
