Who is a Vascular & Interventional Radiologist?
A vascular and interventional radiologist is a medical doctor who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and conditions affecting the blood vessels and related organs, using minimally invasive techniques guided by imaging technologies such as X-ray, ultrasound, CT, and MRI.
These specialists use catheters and other instruments to access the body's blood vessels and organs through small incisions, delivering treatments such as embolization, stenting, angioplasty, and other procedures to address a range of conditions including cancer, peripheral artery disease, deep vein thrombosis, aneurysms, and more. They work closely with other physicians, including surgeons and oncologists, to develop personalized treatment plans for each patient.
