What Does an Anesthesiologist Do?
An anesthesiologist is a medical doctor who specializes in anesthesia and perioperative care, which includes the administration of medication to ensure that patients undergoing surgical procedures do not experience pain or discomfort during surgery. They are responsible for monitoring the patient's vital signs, such as blood pressure, heart rate, and breathing, during and after the surgery.
Anesthesiologists also provide pain relief for patients who suffer from chronic pain conditions or other medical issues. They may also work in intensive care units to help manage patients who require mechanical ventilation or other life-sustaining treatments.
