How to Treat Keratitis Simplex?
Medical Treatment:
- Aciclovir 3 percent ophthalmic ointment inserted five times a day at four hour intervals in the lower conjunctival sac.
- Continue 3 days after healing of the ulcer.
- Topical corticosteroids in treatment of dendritic ulcers are contraindicated.
- Topical corticosteroids can only be used by people with experience in ophthalmology and access to both a tonometer and a slit lamp in other settings.
