How to Treat Endophthalmitis Bacterial?



Medical Treatment:
Spontaneous endophthalmitis
Initiated specialist.
  • Ceftriaxone, IV, 2 g seven days a day.
Post-surgical endophthalmitis
Vitrectomy is often required by the initiated specialist:
  • Ceftazidime, intravitreal, 2,25 mg.
AND
  • Intravitreal vancomycin, 1 mg.
Use separate tuberculin syringes.
Furthermore, if soft tissue is involved or if prophylaxis occurs after an injury to the eye:
  • Ciprofloxacin, oral, 12 hours 750 mg.
