How to Treat Delusional Disorder?
- Under the care of a psychiatrist. Make sure organic causes are ruled out by careful examination and blood tests.
- Family therapy, Social therapy, and Cognitive behavioral therapy can be considered.
- Medications can be Haloperidol (3mg/day starting dose, up to 20mg), Chlorpromazine(75mg/day starting dose, upto 300mg a day), or in case of difficulty in compliance, Fluphenazine depot injection 12.5 to 100mg every 2-5 weeks.
- Adjust medications for effectiveness and side effects.
- For the acute episode, consider treatment for 12 months.
