How to Treat Chilblains?


Medical Treatment:
Things you can try to stop the chilblains coming back:
  • Do not be outdoors when it is cold or damp
  • Wear warm, waterproof clothing, thick socks, and gloves if you go out cold or damp
  • Do not scratch or pick at your skin
  • Do not place your feet or hands on a radiator or hot water to heat them up
  • Take painkillers such as ibuprofen or paracetamol
  • Do not smoke or drinks that have caffeine in them
  • If there is pus coming out of your skin, or you have diabetes, or you keep getting chilblains, contact a GP
